MoS External Affairs & Culture Meenakshi Lekhi Makes Surprise Visit to ‘Explore Beauty of Kupwara’

Says Kupwara Has Tremendous Beauty, Vast Scope for Tourism Activity

Srinagar, June 24 : Seemingly smitten by the ‘unexploited beauty’ of Kupwara, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi arrived on a daylong surprise visit to the north Kashmir district on Saturday.

Talking to media, Lekhi flanked by newly posted Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, as per GNS, said that the aim of her surprise visit to Kupwara is to explore its beauty. “It (Kupwara) has tremendous beauty and a vast scope for tourism activity which has not yet been exploited”, Lekhi said.

“Be it the meadows, the border tourism or the border villages, all have a great potential to bring about a better change”, she said.

“For the larger benefit of people, tourism can act as a major transitory factor and once more people will visit here, it will generate employment avenues for locals”, Lekhi said.

Notably, some major tourist spots, which also include few religious shrines in Kupwara are; Lolab Valley, Bangus Valley, Satbarin Kalaroos, Shahnagri, Sheikh Baba Behram, Kheer Bhawani Asthapan, Hazrat Mehmood Shah Shrine, Hazrat Zati Shahwali and Malcha Khan Badshah Shrine.
