NIT Srinagar signs MOU with IIT Hyderabad

Srinagar, May 26: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, Telangana on academic and research collaborations.

The MoU was signed between Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla and Director IIT Hyderabad Prof. B S Murty.

Dean R&C, Prof. (Dr.) M.F Wani, Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Dean Faculty Welfare, Prof. G.A Harmain, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shameem Ahmad Lone, Dean AIA, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Dean P&D, Dr. J. A. Bhat, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman and Asst. Registrar Director’s Office and Legal, Mohammad Hazik were present on the occasion.

The scope of MoU includes academic and research collaboration in the areas of mutual interest, Exchange of academic information, scholarly information, materials and publications based on mutual agreements.

“Exchange of students and faculty, conducting joint seminars, workshops and other academic meetings and outreach, exchange of knowledge between Administrative Officers,” it said.

The MoU includes student exchange program, supervision of exchange students and admission of top 10% of students of NIT Srinagar to Direct PhD Admission at IITH and exchange of academic and scholarly information between NIT Srinagar and IITH.

On the occasion, Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. Sudhakar Yedla said that this MoU will further strengthen our ties. It is indeed a matter of great pleasure as technological institutions are coming together to sign the historic MoU, he said.

“We will take it forward for the benefit of students, faculty members, and other staff members of both respective intuitions. It will help us to serve humanity through technological dimensions”, he said.

Prof. Yedla said it is a positive step that these MoU’s will encourage academic partnership and fruitful research collaboration between NIT Srinagar and IIT Hyderabad.

“We are aiming forward for the joint research projects and faculty exchange programs,” he said.

During the function, Prof. Yedla also facilitated Director IIT Hyderabad Prof. Murty with Kashmir Shawl and a memento.

Director IIT Hyderabad Prof. B S Murty said faculty from both the institutes will also collaborate in the joint submission of research project proposals, supervision of exchange students, and joint research in disciplines of mutual interest.

“I am happy to sign this MoU between the two intuitions and it will boost the mutual coordination between faculty, students, and other staff members,” he said.

Prof. Murty said they are confident that this partnership will help us produce industry-ready graduates who are prepared to contribute towards the fast-growing global society.

“The faculty of NIT Srinagar can visit IIT Hyderabad during winters, while IIT Hyderabad faculty members can explore NIT Srinagar campus during the peak summers,” he said.

Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari said the purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for research and academic collaboration between both the institutions. It will help in fostering research partnerships and joint research projects, he said.

Prof. Bukhari said MoU will also help in promoting academic exchange and collaboration among faculty, researchers, and students. Enhance the advancement of knowledge through joint publications, conferences, and seminars, he said.
