J&K in 24 hrs: 9 militants, 3 Army soldier killed, one injured in two separate gunfights

Srinagar, April 05 : A total of nine militants, three Army soldiers were killed, while four injured in two separate encounters in the last 24 hours at separate places in north and south Kashmir district.
Four militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were killed, Army trooper suffered injury in a gunfight that raged between forces and militants in Hardmanguri, Khur-Batpora in Damhal Hanjipora belt of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The gunfight broke in Kulgam district after a gap of 10 months.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official identified the militants killed by forces in Kulgam gunfight as Ashraf Malik from Arwani Bijbehara, Aijaz Nayak from Chimmer
Kulgam, Shahid Malik from Khul DH Pora Kulgam and Waqar Ahmad from Chawalgam Kulgam.
In Kulgam gunfight local reports suggest extensive damage to several houses was caused.

Army today claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid along the line of control in Keran Sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district by killing five militants. Three soldiers were also killed in the ongoing operation, statement issued to—KNO by Défense Spokesperson Rajesh Kaliya said.

On Saturday, two minor boys were handed over to their families after counselling as they were going to join militancy in Kreeri belt of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

As per—KNO, two army personnel allegedly shot themselves with service rifles in Bandipora district of North Kashmir and Samba district of Jammu both identified as Sepoy Satendra Kumar Tomar and Makhan Lal.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday recovered body of unsounded man from a Brengi Nallah in Kokarnag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district identified as Rafiq Ahmad Chouhan (42) son of Abdul Gani Chouhan from Cheirward, Kokarnag—(KNO)
