DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Khimber

Inspects progress of works on Rs 90 lakh NTPHC Chatterhama, Rs 2.0 Cr Sports Field Khimber, Rs 7.94 Cr Tribal Research Institute, Health and Nutrition Centre at Saidpora

Srinagar, Apr 5:In its endeavour to bring Administration to the door steps of the people particularly living in outskirts of the District, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp under weekly Block Diwas Programme at Khimber for on spot resolution of public issues and listen to developmental demands of the local people.

Besides, the Members of District Development Council, Block Development Council and Panchayat representatives, a large number of people of Khimber and adjoining areas in North Tehsil of the District were part of the Public Grievance Redressal Camp.

While, Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Chief Medical officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar North, BMO Hazratbal, Lead Bank Manager and other District Officers were also present on the occasion.

During the Grievance Redressal Camp, the DDC members and the people of the area expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for bringing the District Administration to their doorsteps by holding Block Diwas at Khimber. They also thanked DC Srinagar for fulfilling 90 percent local developmental needs as promised in the last Block Diwas held at Khimber area.

On the occasion, local DDC member, PRI representatives projected various issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner including upgradation of Sub Health Centre, Shifting of Patwar Khana to suitable location, cleaning of Mawas SE Canal, providing local transportation facility, notification of merging under Rural Sector and other development related matters.

The Deputy Commissioner after giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public issued on the spot instructions for their time bound redressal. He assured them that all other genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for their time bound redressal. He said such programmes also guide the Administration to plan developmental interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the DC Office or other Government Offices.

With regard to completion of building for the Sub Health Center at Khimber, the DC assured the people that said building will be completed in this financial year and funds shall be provided out of DDC Grants. Moreover, considering the potential of futuristic Medical facilities, 10 Kanal State land shall also be provided to upgrade health facilities in the area.

During his visit to newly constructed building for NTPHC Chaterhama being executed at a cost of Rs 90 lakh, the DC issued onspot directions to concerned executing agency to finalise the Hand-Over Take-over process of the new building after completion of pending works so that Health centre presently functioning in a rented accommodation is shifted to newly constructed building.

 During the tour, the DC also inspected the pace of ongoing work on construction of the Health and Nutrition Centre at Saidpora Bala being executed at a cost of Rs 18 lakh under Aspirational Block Development Programme. The DC instructed the concerned Officers to expedite the works within set timelines to ensure people are timely benefited.

Later, the DC also took stock of the pace of ongoing work on Sports Field Khimber being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.0 crore.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned to accelerate the pace of work on the development of Sports infrastructure so that better sports facilities are provided to promote the local talent in better ways.

Meanwhile, the DC also inspected Tribal Research Institute constructed at a cost of  Rs 7.94 crore. He also inspected  Breeding and Research Farm, Khimber being constructed at a cost of Rs 27 crore for upgradation of Sheep sector so that unemployed youth and sheep rearing farmers will get full support from the Government with the aim to enhance the production of sheep farming besides giving them chance to earn their livelihoods.
