Kulgam police arrested eight gamblers, Stake money of 50000 recovered

Kulgam April 01 : Continuing its drive against social crimes, kulgam police acting swiftly upon a specific information generated from reliable sources regarding Gambling in the juridiction of Police Post Mirbazar, A Police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar raided a suspected gambling site at Palpora and apprehended following gamblers whose identity has been ascertained as:

  1. Mohd Yousuf Malla S/O Ghulam Mohammad Malla R/O Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh
  2. Nasir Ahmad Ganie S/O Mohd Rafiq Ganie R/O Furrah
  3. Umar Hammid Wani S/O Abdul Hammid Wani R/O Furrah
  4. Mudasir Ahmad Rather S/O Abdul Rashid Rather R/O Waghama Bijebhara
  5. Bilal Ahmad Mir S/O Mohd Ismail Mir R/O Bumthan
  6. Nisar Ahmad Mir S/O Ghulam Hassan Mir R/O Zadoora
  7. Nisar Ahmad Khanday S/O Mohd Afzal Khanday R/O Bumthan and
  8. Tariq Ahmad Matoo S/O Ghulam Mohammad Matoo R/O Gangipora

From the spot stake money of Rs 50000, 08 mobile phones and a set of playing cards were recovered.

Taking cognizance into the matter all the gamblers were booked and regarding the incident case FIR No. 55/2023 U/S 13 of  Gambling Act stands registered in Police station Qazigund. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

People of the area have appreciated the role of police for being prompt against such social evils. Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt strictly as per law. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social activity in their vicinity.
