Encounter b/w police and naxals in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur, Apr 1: Naxals attacked a police patrol in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Saturday, police said.

Meanwhile, there was firing from both sides in which no casualty was reported.

Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Vaishnav said today a team of central security forces, Chhattisgarh Arms Force and District Reserve Police from Gangalur police station rushed to Todka in the morning.

Naxals attacked the police with bgl bombs near Sawar forest. There was firing from both sides for half an hour in which no casualty was reported.

Late last evening, Naxals detonated a bridge on Gangalur road and damaged it.

According to Mr. Vaishnav, naxals blew up a culvert near Kikler on Ganglur road, 20 km from the district headquarters, cutting off connectivity to more than 20 villages.

Bijapur Gangalur Road was constructed in 1917. More than 15 soldiers were martyred during this construction work.
