DLSA Gbl organizes Awareness programme on ‘Tele Law & Nyaya Bando’

Ganderbal, Feb 23: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in coordination with CSC, e-Governance Services India Limited, and under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority today organised a one Day Legal Awareness Programme on ‘Tele Law and Nyaya Bando (Pro Bono)’ at Town Hall, Ganderbal.

The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

During the programme, the Secretary DLSA apprised the participants about ‘Tele Law & Nyaya Bando (Pro Bono)’. She said, NALSA has taken several steps to provide speedy and cost-effective justice through free legal aid services and the Department of Justice, Government of India launched this scheme on access to justice namely “designing innovative solutions for holistic access to justice” (DISHA), she added.

She stressed on CSC operators/ VLEs to inform the general public, especially marginalized sections of the society about the Tele Law & Nyaya Bando (Pro Bono), so that common people get legal services/advice digitally.

Adv. Abid Jeelani, Tele-Law Lawyer, highlighted that Tele- Law and said it connects needy and marginalised in need of legal aid with the Panel Lawyers via video conferencing/telephonic facilities available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) situated at the Panchayat level.

He added that, Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) is the first point of contact between rural citizens and lawyers providing legal aid through CSC. They are not lawyers, but have basic understanding of the legal process. He urged the participants to download the Tele Law mobile application and avail free legal services.

Adv. Irfan Rashid Mir, Nyaya Bando (Pro Bono Lawyer), apprised the participants about Pro Bona Lawyer, which means giving free legal service to the public without any consideration. Nyaya Bandhu is an IT software application available easily in Google Store. Nyaya Bandhu is a pro bono legal service that has been developed to connect the registered lawyers with the registered beneficiaries. This scheme gives voluntary legal advice to individuals and organizations that are unable to afford legal advice and/or cannot access legal aid.

Adv. Athar Hafiz, Panel Lawyer of CSC Tele-Law, highlighted that legal services also encompasses facilitating the beneficiaries to get their entitlement under various Government schemes, policies and legislations.

The programme was also attended by District Manager, CSC, e-Governance Services India Limited, Akhter Hussain, J&K Coordinator Tele-Law, Zameer Ahmad Mir, Panel Lawyers of CSC Tele-Law, PLVs of District Ganderbal and CSC Operators/VLEs of District Ganderbal.
