Coronavirus: Second batch of 53 evacuees from Iran quarantined at Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, Mar 16: In the wake of rapid spread of coronavirus globally, a second batch of 53 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Iran and are being quarantined at Indian Army Wellness facility here in Rajasthan on Monday.
On Sunday, the first batch of 236 evacuees were arrived at the same Wellness centre.
As per the procedure, preliminary screening of these persons was undertaken at the Airport upon arrival. Thereafter, they were moved to the Quarantine facility at Jaisalmer where they will undergo 14 days Quarantine under professional medical supervision, an Indian Army official said.
COVID-19 or Corona Virus has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and a large number of Indian stranded in Corona affected countries like Italy, Iran and others are being evacuated by the Govemment.
Iran is warning that the coronavirus pandemic could overwhelm health facilities there as the death toll jumped to 724.
The number of people with the virus in Iran is nearing 14,000.
The Iranian health ministry said around 15 percent of those who have died were under the age of 40.
