Pregnant woman evacuated by Indian Army soldiers in snowbound  Kupwara

Kupwara, Feb 6: Indian Army rescued a pregnant woman from the snowbound Badakhet village of Kalaroos block on 6 Feb at 11:00 AM. The Army camp received a call from the family members, requesting for urgent medical help for the pregnant woman, who was in critical condition. Due to heavy snowfall, roads were completely blocked and very slippery. No private vehicle or Army vehicles could reach the house as the road was narrow, steep, curved, slippery and dangerous.

Realizing the criticality of the situation, rescue and medical teams of Kalaroos COB immediately carried the woman on shoulders through snow bound stretch and incessant snowfall. Soldiers carried the pregnant woman on a stretcher for 5 km near the Sumo Bridge where an ambulance was on standby to receive the patient. The family and doctors expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for their swift action and timely assistance. On reaching the Primary Health Center, Kalaroos, the delivery process immediately started and a healthy baby boy was born. The mother and baby are doing fine.

The family was in tears seeing the commitment and zeal of soldiers through laborious evacuation for 5 km. Any delay in evacuation would have endangered the lives of both mother and baby. The selfless act was widely appreciated by locals, doctors and is a true testament of strong Awam Jawan Connect in Kupwara.
