SDMA issues avalanche warning in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 19: The State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA) on Thursday has issued a low danger avalanche warning for the people living 2500 to 3500 meters above sea level in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement the SDMA said that avalanche with Low Danger Level is likely to occur above 2500 to 3500 meters above sea level over Ganderbal district in Central Kashmir, Bandipora and Kupwara districts in north Kashmir and Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban districts of Jammu division in next 24 hours.

It has also advised people living in these areas to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas till further orders.

The MeT forecast from January 19-22 chances of light to moderate Snow/rain in plains of Jammu over scattered to fairly widespread places.
