Official Statements Restricted To Paper, Pesky Power Cuts ‘Real Schedule’: Kremshore Budgam Residents

Srinagar, Dec 9 : Residents of  Kremshore Budgam and adjoining areas of the central Kashmir district on Friday alleged that they are facing pesky and unscheduled power cuts which is causing great trouble to them.

“Almost every day, one or the other high ranked official talks about strict adherence to the power curtailment schedule by the concerned department or Corporation but the ground situation is totally in contrast,” said a delegation of people from Kremshore Budgam.

“In 2 hours of scheduled power supply, we normally get 15 or 20 minutes in the start and around 15 minutes at the end which means we don’t get electricity for 1.5 hours in the scheduled 2 hours,” they said, adding, “While we never get electricity during scheduled curtailment hours, we request authorities to clarify why they are issuing tall statements regarding adherence to the power curtailment schedule when it is observed in breach or if they means business, there ought to have been some action in ensuring the electricity is provided as per the official schedule.”

The residents also requested the authorities to either ensure that the official statements are not restricted “on paper” or “ensure that power supply is ensured as per the curtailment schedule.”

“It appears to us that unscheduled and pesky power cuts remain the real schedule.”

There are reports across Kashmir Valley regarding the non-adherence of the curtailment schedule by the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited.

Repeated attempts by GNS to contact the Executive Engineer in whose jurisdiction Kremshore Budgam and adjoining areas fall did not fructify.
