Govt committed to path of fiscal consolidation without compromising on public expenditure: FM

New Delhi, :   Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the Government is committed to continuing on the path of fiscal consolidation without compromising on requirements of public expenditure placed by the various sectors.
Replying to a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the union Budget, the Finance Minister said, ‘The government is committed to continuing on the path of fiscal consolidation, keeping fiscal deficit at 3.3 per cent’.
In this context, she pointed out that every estimate projection that have been given is realistic.
“Every estimated projection that has been given in the budget is realistic. When we say we have a vision for India, it’s not without a plan. And the plan is to increase investment coming into the country,” she said.
The Finance Minister said that the allocations to states has been increased in the budget.
‘The total resources transferred to states is Rs 13,29,428 crore in the Budget Estimates of 2019-20. This is an increase of Rs 82,000 crore over the RE of 2018-19,’ she said.
She said that there was no discrimination between states.
‘The formulation is already given by the Finance Commission,’ she said.
