5 OGWs Booked Under Public Safety Act (PSA) In Connection With Terror Links In Ramban By J&K Police

Jammu, Oct 20 : Five people have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for having links with militants in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. This was disclosed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday. All these people worked as over-ground workers for the militants. According to sources, those arrested were allegedly in contact with terrorist commanders in Pakistan.

The five arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) have been identified as Nazir Ahmed Pala from Doligam, Banihal, Usman Pogal from Kunda Ramsu, Fardius Ahmed Khan from Krawa (Krava is an old toll plaza in Banihal), Tether, now Hamid Khan. From Banihal and as Anyatullah Wani. The goon Adalkoot was arrested in Banihal.

Over-ground workers (OGWs) usually help militants with logistics support, cash, shelter and other infrastructure. With which armed groups and militant movements like Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed can operate in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the report, a person who provides a safe home, route, information, or acts as a messenger for suspected extremists, is immediately labeled as OGWs by the authorities.

OGWs act as eyes and ears for underground militants. These people arrange militants’ hideouts, take weapons from safe havens to those places where terrorist attacks are planned. Keep an eye on the activities of the security forces. Defining over-ground workers, a top police officer said that if militants are seen as fish, then OGWs. It is water that ensures their existence. The police officer also said that OGWs are militants without weapons and can be even more deadly as they manage travel and other things for active militants.
