Leadership is all about making use of virtues and handling shortcomings: Gadkari

New Delhi, : No one is perfect and the leadership is all about making use of virtues and handling the shortcomings, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said here.
Addressing an orientation programme for the newly elected Members of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha, he said: “It’s an universal truth, no one is perfect and no one can claim that he is perfect”.
Urging the new lawmakers to try develop expertise in some select subjects, Mr Gadkari said here on Thursday: “The onus is on you all (individual MPs) to decide which issues I should ask questions. It has to be your decision. Some subjects like foreign policy or matters related to tribal life, everyone cannot know every details of these issues”.
“If you look into details, there will be over 150 subjects. Therefore, it will be good if you focus and decide about some subjects. Everyone cannot deal with all the subjects,” Mr Gadkari has said at the orientation programme also attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah and first timer MPs including the likes of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Hans Raj Hans and Ravi Kishan.
In this context, he said supposing someone wants to focus on agri-related issues, then it will be relevant for such lawmakers to know how farming is actually done in Israel, how water conservation is made and so on.
“Therefore, when you will speak or debate on these issues, there will be added inputs in what you say,” he said this will easily give the MP much sought after respect and recognition.
“So, when you speak and there is substance in it; these will easily get highlighted in the media too,” said Mr Gadkari.
Organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training, Lok Sabha Secretariat, the orientation programme of the new MPs got underway here on Wednesday with an address by Speaker Om Birla and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
