GAASH Literacy Campaign: DC Gbl calls for collective efforts to make it a success

Ganderbal, Sep 27: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired the meeting of concerned officers to discuss the progress on implementation of GAASH Literacy campaign in the district.

While discussing progress made under the campaign, the DC directed all the concerned departments to put in collective efforts to make the campaign successful in the district.

The GAASH Literacy campaign was recently launched by the District Administration with the purpose to enlighten general masses who are illiterate about the importance of “being literate”.

The Program Officer ICDS briefed the meeting about the action plan and informed that various awareness programs are running effectively in various Anganwadi centers of the district.

The DC directed all the concerned departments to ensure mass mobilization involving Aganwardi workers, teachers, MSK and SHG members who shall teach the identified beneficiaries in their areas of operation so that the purpose of launching a literacy campaign is achieved.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the literacy campaign shall continue till 2nd October 2022 and would focus on the areas of knowledge of English as well as Urdu Alphabets, numerical numbers, ability to sign instead of casting thumb impressions, identification of sign boards so that illiterates are able to write their own name and the names of their family members.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, PO ICDS, Dy CEO and other concerned officers.
