SL to set up night safari park

Colombo, Sep 26 : Sri Lanka plans to open a night safari park at its famed elephant orphanage, reputedly the only one of its kind in the world.

The facility will come at Pinnawala, The Island newspaper on Monday quoted Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera as saying.

The Minister on Sunday gave the assurance to representatives from the tourism sector and foreign delegates.
The centre, at Pinnawala village near Kegalla town, is an orphanage, nursery and breeding ground for captive elephants rescued in distress from the wildlife. It is a popular tourist resort.
