The Nifty is trading at 11,897.20 points Wednesday morning.
Indian equity benchmarks fluctuated in the opening traded after the gains in Axis Bank and Asian Paints were offset by the losses in HDFC and Tata Consultancy Services.
Top gainers in the Sensex pack in early trade included Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, M&M, Axis Bank, NTPC and PowerGrid, while Vedanta, ONGC, HDFC, Tata Steel, ITC, TCS and HUL fell the most in the early trading session.
Investors are awaiting for the budget as the government could announce measures to ease liquidity and prop up demand in the slowing economy.
