India records 5,439 new Covid cases

New Delhi, Aug 30 :  India recorded 5,439 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally of active caseload to 65,732 as per the Health Ministry data on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 22,031 recoveries were reported, increasing the total recoveries to 4,38,25,024 whereas the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98.66 per cent.

Delhi on Monday reported 214 fresh Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.77 per cent, while four more people succumbed to the viral disease

According to the bulletin, 88.55 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 3,20,418 tests have been conducted.

“India has administered 212.17 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine (94.23 crore second dose and 15.66 crore precaution dose), so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” the Ministry data said.

More than 201.32 crore of vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far. Over 5.89 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said.
