Srinagar,Aug 29-Aug; Residents of kokar bagh-Malla bagh area in Srinagar accused Roads and Building (R&B) department of using sub-standard material and leaving macadimization work of a road midway in the area.
Locals said macadimization work of 1.5-kilometer road stretch Kokar bagh was left midway by the authorities.
They alleged macadimization of road was started after a long delay and the same could not sustain even for few days, which clearly states the usage of poor quality material in construction of road.
“They said that the material was laid on the open drains and the department flouted all the rules required for the macadimization. The locals further said after few days the material lost its grip and one can easily peel it off.
“It was the first time that area road was being macadamized. It is the fault of the concerned R&B department that left inhabitants to suffer more,” they said.
In this regard, when the correspondent of the CNS spoke to the concerned junior engineer, instead of giving him a reasonable answer, she treated the reporter in a rude and disrespectful manner.
When contacted Executive Engineer R&B, Imtiyaz Mir said that the work of the macadimization is under warranty, department will look into it. “I will look into the matter and will get back to you,” he added.
On being asked about the unethical behaviour of concerned J.E, the officer said that he will look into the matter accordingly.
