Northern Railway Celebrates Independence Day With Gaiety And Festivity

New Delhi, Aug, 15: Northern Railway  celebrated the Independence Day 2022 with gaiety festivities and national fervour today. The main function was held in New Delhi at the Headquarter office, Baroda House. General Manager unfurled the National Flag and addressed a gathering of Railway employees. All Principal heads of departments and senior officials of NR were also present on the occasion. The General Manager felicitated some retired employees above the age of 75 years who had put in exemplary meritorious service during their employment tenure in Northern Railway.


In his message to all employees of NR the GM highlighted the achievements of the zone in the previous year. He further said that since independence the railways has worked relentlessly to serve the nation. As we are returning towards normalcy after  covid-19 , the Railways will enhance its efforts to help the country to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and to forge ahead in all fields.

Independence Day was also celebrated with national pride and fervor across the zone. Programmes were held at Divisional headquarters. All prominent Stations, Railway offices, buildings and colonies under Delhi, Ambala, Firozpur, Lucknow and Moradabad Divisions were decorated with the national flag and illuminated with tricolour lighting.  The stations building of Delhi Jn, Charbag Lucknow, Varanasi Jn, Amritsar and Shimla, Kalka, Chandigarh, Ambala, SMVD Katra, Srinagar and Moradabad were tastefully decorated with lights. The Iconic Chenab Bridge was decorated with the national flag. The Tricolour was unfurled at the top of 193m Pylon of Anji Bridge. The mega structures were also illuminated with lights. The national flag was also hoisted at the under-construction sites of Rishikesh-Karnaprayag BG line project and upcoming stations of USBRL project.
