Kupwara Gets Drug Deaddiction-cum-Rehabilitation Centre

Centre need of hour as drug addiction graph is increasing in society: DC Khalid Jahangir

Kupwara, Aug 10 : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir on Wednesday inaugurated first of its kind Drug Deaddiction-cum-Rehabilitation Centre at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara.

The Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Teli, Medical Superintendent, Abdul Gani Dar, BMO Kupwara and Psychiatrist were present among others on the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was the need of hour to establish a Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre in Kupwara as everybody knows the drug addiction graph is increasing in the society. He said the Centre, headed by MD Psychiatrist, will facilitate the persons involved in drug addiction to get rid of this menace so that they can live a healthy, social and dignified life.

He directed CMO Kupwara and other concerned to make people aware about the facility and ensure proper medicare and counseling of the patients. He also congratulated CMO for making the Centre functional in a short time.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various units of the hospital, interacted with patients and received feedback from them regarding medical facilities.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the CMO and Medical Officers and discussed various issues regarding further improvement of the hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner asked CMO to ensure added sanitation in and around the hospital. He discussed various issues including availability of paramedical staff, duty roster of doctors, night shift and patient care.

The Deputy Commissioner also heard the CMO who projected various demands to clear the deficiencies in the hospital.
