After Days Of Rain, MeT Forecasts ‘Hot & Humid’ Weather Today

Says Farmers Can Spray Orchards, Schools Can Plan Picnics, Outdoor Activities This Week

Srinagar, Aug 2 : After days of rain, weatherman has forecast “hot and humid” weather in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday
“Mainly dry is expected today. A brief spell of Rain/Thunderstorm may occur towards late afternoon/evening but chances are less,” a meteorological department official said, adding, “Today will be a hot & humid day.’

Regarding the outlook for subsequent two days, he said “no large change” was expected. He said farmers can spray orchards while schools can plan picnics or any outdoor activities this week.

Meanwhile, in last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, parts of Jammu and Kashmir received rainfall with Kukernag receiving 8.2mm followed by Pahalgam (6.1mm), Qazigund (2.8mm), Gulmarg (2.6mm), Kupwara (1.1mm), Srinagar (0.6mm), Bahihal and Botote (0.4mm) and Bhaderwah (0.2mm).

The minimum temperatures settled below normal for the season across the J&K barring Katra, the MeT official said.

Srinagar, he said, recorded a low of 17.5°C against 17.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.4°C below normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 16.2°C same as on the previous night. The temperature was 1.0°C below normal there, he told GNS.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 9.6°C against 13.2°C on the previous night and it was 4.0°C below normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 15.6°C against 15.2°C last night and it was 1.1°C below normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 8.5°C against 8.6°C on previous night and it was 3.7°C ‘below’ normal for the north Kashmir place.

Kupwara town saw a low of 14.6°C against 15.9°C on previous night and it was 2.8°C below normal for the place during this time of the season, the official told Global News Service.

Jammu recorded a low of 24.4°C against 24.5°C on the previous night. It was 0.3°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 14.4°C, Batote 15.8°C, Katra 22.2°C and Bhadarwah 14.6°C, the official said. (GNS)
