Two Hybrid LeT militants apprehended in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, July 30: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two Hybrid militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit in North Kashmir’s Sopore.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that today at about 1730 hours, a joint naka by Sopore police, 32 RR and 92 CRPF was established at Hadipora Rafiabad in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha. During naka checking Two suspected persons coming from Lorihama link road towards Haddipora, on observing security forces at Naka point both fled from road to nearby orchards and were chased and apprehended by security forces .

According to police spokesperson, during searches 2 pistols and 2 pistol magzines along with 11 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.During preliminary questioning both revealed their identity as Tariq Ah Wani s/o Late Bashir Ah Wani R/o Old Airfield, Rangreth and Ishfaq Ah Wani s/o Ali Mohd Wani R/o Old Airfield, Rangreth both residents of Srinagar.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are hybrid militants of organisation LeT and were in constant search of an opportunity to carry out strikes on security forces and civilians.

In this FIR NO 90/2022 U/S 506/IPC 7/25 IA Act 13 ULA(P) Act registered in Police station Dangiwacha, Rafiabad Further investigation is still going on, reads the statement.
