Journalist Allegedly Thrashed By Unknown Persons in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 23 : A Srinagar-based journalist on Saturday claimed he was thrashed by at least four car-borne persons in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Shabraz Bashir, son of BashirAhmad Parray of Bemina told GNS that he was beaten in Bemina Chowk by at least four persons. “A Swift Car stopped by while I was in Bemina Chowk and all of a sudden they alighted, caught hold of me and beat me up”, Shabraz said adding I kept asking them as to what had I done but they didn’t listen and even threatened to kill me.

“I have lodged a complaint against the persons at a nearby police station, who in return assured me of all possible help”, he further said.

When contacted, a police official told GNS that the victim has been hit by some unknown persons. “We are checking CCTV footage to identify the culprits for necessary action”, the official added.

Notably, the journalist works with a Jammu-based newspaper The ‘News Now’.
