JKJA organises one-day Refresher Training Programme on ‘Land Acquisition Laws and provisions relating to Just compensation and Execution of Award’ at Srinagar

Srinagar, July 23: J&K Judicial Academy (JKJA) under the patronage of Justice Pankaj Mithal, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy) and guidance of Justice Sindhu Sharma, Chairperson, Governing Committee for J&K Judicial Academy, Justice Javed Iqbal Wani and Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Members of Governing Committee, today organized one-day Refresher Training Programme on “Land Acquisition Laws and provisions relating to just compensation and Execution of Award” for District & Sessions Judges of Kashmir Province including those on deputation at Judicial Academy, here.

Former Judge of High Court of J&K, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, was the resource person for the Refresher Training Programme.

While during the Technical Session of the programme, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar educated the participants on key procedural aspects of laws governing land acquisition and discussed the concepts of fair compensation, rehabilitation, resettlement and other core issues in the process, in the light of provisions under “The Right to Fair Compensation, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013”.He referred to various judicial pronouncements on the subject and also explained the procedural aspects of the execution of award in detail.

Earlier, Director, JKJA, Shahzad Azeem in his introductory address underscored the importance of Land Acquisition Laws in industrializing and urbanizing economies where land has to be acquired by state agencies for the sake of development of infrastructure and expansion. He also underlined the pivotal role of the Judiciary while dealing with litigation on land acquisition matters for providing larger justice to the people and maintaining the correct social and economic equilibrium in society.

During the programme, an interactive session was also held where the participants discussed various aspects of topic and raised queries which were satisfactorily settled by the resource person.
