DEO Gbl discusses rationalization of Polling Stations with Political representatives

Ganderbal, July 16: The District Election Officer (DEO), Ganderbal, Shyambir today discussed the rationalization of polling stations/booths with the representatives of Political parties at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, here.

At the outset, the DEO said that polling stations are a vital part of the electoral process, and the polling stations will be created keeping in view the convenience of the voters and must include all essential facilities.

While interacting with the political representatives, the DEO asked them to go through the proposed draft of polling stations which was provided to them by the authorities and were asked to record comments for rectification if required in due course of time for smooth, fair and transparent elections.

The DEO maintained that the identification of polling locations and their rationalization is the priority of the government and will be done in a voter friendly manner so as to ensure the maximum participation of the voters. Besides, any new proposal falling within the norms shall be considered and accepted, he added.

The DEO also apprised the political representatives about the ensuing special summary revision of electoral rolls, which will give opportunity to the new eligible voters to get them enrolled.

The meeting was also attended by Dy-DEO Ganderbal, AEROs and other concerned.
