Srinagar, June 11:To Celebrate “AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV” Manasbal Army Camp in collaboration with water sports association Ganderbal, Manasbal development authority under KHELO INDIA MISSION conducted a colorful Manasbal Water Sports festival JASHN-E-MANASBAL on 11 Jun 2022. The unique sporting event included races of Boats and Shikaras. One Hundred young men from all over the valley enthusiastically participated in the competitions. Around 500 locals witnessed the event. Demonstrations on Kayaks, Shikaras and water skiing added further gaiety. Cultural programmes by local musicians, painting competition and martial arts by the children and fishing competition thereafter enthralled the audience.

JASHN-E-MANASBAL was aimed at creating environmental awareness, promoting watersports & tourism in the area and empowering local fishing communities by providing a platform to showcase their talents. The water sports festival was a roaring  success and received an apocryphal response from the locals. JASHN-E-MANASBAL has impacted people from all walks of life and age groups. It has generated awareness about the  tourism as well as sports potential of manasbal lake and provided opportunities to the local populace to harness it for the upliftment of the socio-economic  fabric in the adjoining areas. Events of  such nature encourage mass participation of the youth and sportsmen. Bonds of friendship  and solidarity between the jawan and local population have indeed been further cemented.
