DLSA Gbl orgainses Legal Awareness programme on ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act-2005’

Ganderbal, May 24: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in Collaboration with Government Boys Higher Secondary School Safapora today organized a legal awareness programme on “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005” at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Safapora.

The programme was held under the supervision of Chairperson District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal, Shazia Tabasum and under the guidance of  Tabasum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

The Programme was attended by Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School Safapora, Staff Members of School, Officials of DLSA Ganderbal, Students and PLVs.

Legal Assistant, Gulafroz Khan, Advocate Shayesta Hamid, Teachers and students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Safapora spoke on the occasion.

During the programme, speakers explained the definition, types and legal remedies available to address the issues of domestic violence against women.

They highlighted the role of various stakeholders like government agencies, judiciary, police, social activists, NGOs and others for ensuring that the victims of domestic violence are provided timely protection, medical aid and legal aid besides facilitating their dignified rehabilitation.

To make the efforts of the stakeholders successful, the participants were impressed upon to equip themselves with adequate knowledge of the relevant provisions of law and perform their positive role in society viz-a viz the subject with commitment and determination.

Different competitions including Speeches, Group Songs etc were held during the programme, in which large number of students participated and prizes were also given to the students who excelled in different competitions.
