Gingle Market Traders in Uri Protest Against BRO

Uri, May 17 : Gingle Market traders in Uri Tuesday lodged a protest against Border Roads Organisation (BRO) over non-repairing of Mohura-Chollan road.

Reports reaching GNS said that the traders shut their shops as a mark of protest and later on took to the road leading to suspension of vehicular traffic for several hours.

The traders decried the shabby condition of Mohura to Chollan road stretch saying that the bad road condition is taking a serious toll on the drivers, commuters and traders alike.

The students, elders and shopkeepers are immediate victims of the apathy by the authorities, they said.

“Even the BRO authorities had assured us of construction of a culvert at Gingle Market some two years before, but that too seems a distant dream for us”, a trader told GNS.

The protestors later on dispersed peacefully after intervention by police and local administration.
