DDC Kupwara reviews progress of Languishing projects

Sets timeline for completion of 162 projects worth  Rs .417.17 crore   approved under LPP

Kupwara, May 16: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the pace of progress of projects being constructed under the Languishing Projects Programme (LPP).

The meeting discussed threadbare various issues pertaining to timeline and quality standard of the projects.

The DDC took detailed review of all projects one by one and received feedback on the status of the projects. He was informed that 162 projects costing Rs.417.17 crore have been approved under the Languishing Programme, out of which 47 projects have been completed. While 99 projects are under execution and the rest of the 16 have to be taken up.

The meeting was informed that the projects which are under execution include roads and buildings, water supply schemes, health centres, school buildings etc.

Addressing the meeting, the DDC directed the executing agencies to speed up the developmental tempo in the district and ensure completion of all ongoing works within the stipulated timeframe.

The DDC directed concerned officers to complete all projects by the end of the current financial year and gave different timelines for different projects.

Khalid Jahangir nominated District Statistical & Evaluation Officer Kupwara for monitoring of works for its completion. He further directed executing agencies to incur financial expenditure as per guidelines of the Languishing Projects Programme.

The DDC made all the executing agencies personally responsible for monitoring of works and getting forest clearance wherever required as per norms.

The DDC directed district officers to visit border and remote areas like Karnah, Keran, Machill, Jamagund and Kumkadi in groups on rotation basis along with supporting staff to resolve public grievances and developmental issues. For this, he directed JD Planning to issue a Calendar of officers as per roaster.

The meeting was attended by JD Planning, all Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers and other.
