Navin Choudhary inspects health institutions in Ramban; Flags zero tolerance policy on unnecessary referrals

Ramban, May 14: Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today visited Ramban and inspected various health institutions in Banihal, Ramsoo and Ramban to take stock of healthcare facilities being extended to the people there.

During his visit, Principal Secretary interacted with the staff of SDH Banihal, PHC Ramsoo and District Hospital Ramban and obtained feedback from the patients and attendants regarding the healthcare services being extended to them.

Navin was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, ACR, Dhirendra Sharma, SDM Banihal and Ramsoo, CMO, Dr. M Fareed Bhat, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr Mehboob Khan besides other senior officers of the department.

While taking firsthand appraisal of available healthcare infrastructure, Principal Secretary issued directions to the Deputy Commissioner to immediately project the district’s requirement in terms of manpower reinforcement and additional equipments so that round the clock medical facilities are provided to the people.

He emphasized government’s resolve of prioritizing healthcare infrastructure in the UT especially in view of the recent Covid pandemic. He asked the doctors and paramedic staff to work with utmost commitment ensuring best possible medical services to people in the this hilly district with hostile terrain.

Principal Secretary cautioned the doctors against any unnecessary referrals which shall invite disciplinary action. He also asked the CMO, BMOs and Medical Superintendent to improve the capacity building of its technical staff so that frequency of lab facilities like CT scans, Ultrasounds, Dialysis and X-ray are further enhanced.

Stressing upon zero tolerance policy against negligence of duties, Principal Secretary asked the MS DH Ramban and BMOs to paste daily duty rosters on the notice boards for information of general public and social media groups along with contact numbers.

Principal Secretary also inspected cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation systems in these hospitals besides reviewing progress on implementation of flagship health schemes including PMJAY/Sehat health insurance scheme.

Principal Secretary, while talking to media persons in DH Ramban, said that the government is making unprecedented arrangements for the devotees during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra – 2022. He said adequate medical staff including 800 doctors will be deployed for SANJY 2022 along the holy Yatra route.
