Bengaluru on alert as object resembling country-made grenade found in rly station

Bengaluru, :  A high alert was sounded after a metal object resembling country-made grenade was found on the tracks at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway station in the city on Friday but no damage was reported.
Official sources said the canister resembled a country-made grenade but it was empty and there was no explosive material in it.
Karnataka Railway Police Additional Director General of Police Alok Kumar said the metal object was spotted near the track at 0830 hrs by a railway employee.
Sanghamitra Superfast Express-bound for Danapur in Bihar was scheduled to depart at 0900 hrs but was delayed.
Bomb disposal and dog squads were rushed to the spot as RPF, CRPF and state police cordoned off the area.
Sand bags were placed around the metal object and the entire railway station, including the trains were searched as a precautionary measure.
This led to delay in departure of some trains as security personnel conducted checks and screened all passengers who entered the city central railway station.
Mr Kumar said the CCTV cameras in this train was not working and the officials were examining the metal object. No one was detained or arrested so far in this incident.
