Govt School students sing Dogri folk appealing to save trees in Udhampur, video goes viral

Jammu, :  Students of Government Middle School, Dharmal in Dudu Zone of Basantgarh tehsil, district Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir have appealed to the people of the state to save trees by singing Dogri ‘paakh’, the video of which gone viral on social media and receiving appreciation.
The students in the video can be seen appealing to people to save ‘Rukh’ (Trees in regional language Dogri) by singing and dancing to the beats of ‘dholki’ and drum.
The man behind the show is their school teacher namely Subhash Brahmanau, a writer, singer and a composer, who is also associated with the Radio Kashmir Jammu.
The Dogri song ‘Rukh’, written and composed by the teacher, was beautifully sung by the students from class second to eighth during recess time with scenic background in the backdrop captured by their mentor who later posted it on social media to aware people about importance of trees and plants in life.
Village Dharmal in Dudu is situated around 180-kilometrs from here in the remote belt of Udhampur district.
Talking to UNI telephonically, teacher Subhash Brahmanau said that he wanted to give message to the people not only of state but also across the country to save trees through the video.
‘All types of plants in traditional Dogri language in hilly belts are called as ‘Rukh’ and the way, deforestation is taking place, is a matter of concern’, Mr Brahmanau here told UNI.
He expressed that not only in daily life but plants and trees are also required when human dies, adding, ‘we should respect the nature and apart from saving the trees, more plants should be grown for our future generation’.
The teacher however, said that the students of the school fulfilled his dream of spreading message of saving trees by singing his composition after which he utilized social media and posted the video on Youtube, whiuh was liked and shared by many nature lovers.
‘The government should encourage these students for their efforts’, he appealed and said that private school students get appreciation for many tasks but there is nobody to look after these wards, who are selflessly spreading a message for noble cause.
Mr Brahmanau further appealed to the government to appoint more teachers in government middle school, Dharmal in Dudu Zone of Basantgarh as presently only three teachers are educating a strength of 104 students including in-charge headmaster.
The students contributed in singing, music and playing local instruments were Kilbir Singh, Purshotam Kumar, Amit Thakur, Yashpal, Romesh Kumar, Solufa Devi, Sarishta Devi, Pooja Devi, Kajal Devi, Soni Kumara, (singers), Barsha Devi, Surishta Devi, Ambita Thakur (dancers) and Rakesh Kumar played ‘dholak’.
