Chinese Prez to come for Informal Summit, but no dates finalised

New Delhi, :  Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to be in India later this year for the second Informal Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In response to news reports appearing in a section of the media on the next Informal Summit between India and China, the MEA spokesperson said: “During the first Informal Summit in Wuhan, Chinese President Xi had accepted the invitation of PM Modi to visit India for the next Informal Summit in 2019”.
MEA spokesman, however said, – “The two sides are in touch, through diplomatic channels, to finalise the date and venue for the meeting”.
Details about the visit will be announced in due course after the details are finalized, he said.
The first Informal Summit between Mr Modi and Chinese President took place in Wuhan in Hubei province in China on April 27-28, 2018 heralding a new vista in bilateral relations between two countries.
In a major diplomatic development vis-a-vis terror front, the United Nations on May 1 declared Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist.
The decision from UN Security Council’s 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee came after China lifted its technical hold and allowed the proposal made by the US, the UK and France to go to its logical end.
The development has been hailed as a high point for the Prime Minister Modi’s foreign policy.
“India stands vindicated. Masood Azar is now a global terrorist. India is in safe hands,” Union Minister Arun Jaitley had tweeted.
