Death toll in Pattan road accident rises to 3 after another Sarpanch succumb to injuries

Srinagar, April 26: Death toll in the road accident involving JKRTC bus and a tipper at Ranzi Pattan in Baramulla district rose to three on Tuesday after one more Sarpanch succumbed to injuries, officials said.

 

Official sources told GNS that the Sarpanch Abdul Jabbar (56) son of Abdul Rahim Lone of Lachipora Baramulla succumbed to his injuries late last night, taking the toll to 3.

Earlier a Sarpanch from Kupwara and driver of RTC bus driver were killed and two PRI members besides two policemen were seriously injured when bus they were travelling in had a head-on collision with a tipper vehicle near Renzi Tappar Pattan on Monday evening, leading to on the spot death of Sarpanch, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Samad Bhat from Gulgam Kupwara, and serious injuries to six others identified as Abdul Qayoom Shah (driver of the SRTC bus) son of Aladin of Gugloosa Kupwara, Haqeeqat Shah son of Abdul Qayoom, constable Abdul Hameed Bhat son of Abdul Jabbar, Abdul Jabbar Lone, SGCT Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohiuddin , Abdul Ahad Khan son of Wali Mohammad Khan of Nutnoosa.

The injured were hospitalized and late on Monday night, driver of the vehicle Abdul Qayoom Shah succumbed to the wounds. A police officer told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.
