Cooperatives offer an empowering business alternative for young social entrepreneurs: Aijaz Asad

Srinagar, April 25:  In order to discuss and review the implementation of Yuva Sahakar scheme in the district, a meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at the Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here.

The meeting held a detailed discussion regarding the implementation and monitoring of the ‘Yuva Sahakar-Cooperative Enterprise Support and Innovation Scheme” launched by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in Srinagar district.

On the occasion, the DC directed all line departments to hold interactions with the registered Cooperative Societies in the district and make them aware about the objectives and benefits of Yuva Sahakar scheme so that more livelihood generation avenues are provided to youth of the district.  He also asked them to prepare comprehensive sector wise plans under the scheme within 10 days so that new Cooperative Societies led by the young entrepreneurs are formed.

The DC stressed on extending the ambit of the scheme to other line departments including Handicrafts, Handloom, NULM, NRLM, Employment, UDAK to achieve a desired target on ground.

Highlighting the objectives of the scheme, the DC said that Yuva Sahakar scheme is aimed to fulfil aspirations of the youth and NCDC has come up with a youth-friendly scheme for attracting them to cooperative business ventures. He said NCDC has created a dedicated funding with liberal features enabling youth to opt for the scheme.

It was given out in the meeting that the scheme will have more incentives for cooperatives members. The funding pattern for the project will be 70:30 of the project cost.

General Manager DIC, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Registrar Cooperative, Tehsildar Headquarter, Assistant Director Tourism, and other concerned were present in the meeting.
