1 AK-47 Rifle, 2 Pistols, Ammunition Recovered Along IB In Akhnoor Jammu: BSF

Jammu, April 7 : Border Security Forces on Thursday recovered an Ak-47 Rifle, two made in Italy pistols and ammunition at Akhnoor International Border, officials said.

“A special search operation of BSF Jammu was launched in sub sector Pargwal on Akhnoor International Border and troops recovered one AK 47 Rifle, 20 rounds, two rifle magazines two Pistols (Made in Italy), 40 rounds and four pistol magazines,” BSF spokesman said in a statement to GNS.

“There were intelligence inputs about Pak based ANEs (anti-national elements) attempts to smuggle weapons,” he said, adding, “Accordingly BSF troops were kept on high alert and the area between fencing and IB was regularly patrolled.”

Today in the morning, the BSF party recovered a bag near IB containing the arms and ammunition “which was to be smuggled into Indian side and thus averted a major tragedy.”

Speaking on the occasion, SK Singh, DIG/PSO, Jammu said that BSF is always on high alert all the time and also committed to secure the International Border. “It is the hard work and dedication of troops which resulted in this significant seizure.”
