Contingent paid workers stage protest

Srinagar,Mar 14 :Scores of Contingent Paid Workers (CPW) on Monday staged protest here demanding their files be approved for regularisation and also demanded the release of pending wages.
The protestors assembled under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Contingent Paid Workers Union at Press Enclave here and raised pro-justice slogans. Talking to media persons, president of the Union Abdul Gani Malik said that holding of departmental promotions have been their long-pending demand.
Malik added , “If our demands are not met by the coming Monday, we would come to the streets with our families and hold an indefinite hunger strike until our demands are met for which the DSEK would be solely responsible.”
“Authorities are only constituting committees and not conducting DPCs,” they said. The protestors also appealed to authorities to issue orders for their wages as per Minimum Wages Act.
They urged the government to come up with a clear regularization policy and give the benefit of the Minimum Wages Act.
They appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to kindly look into the matter and redress their demands on priority basis.
