District Admin Srinagar conducts inspection of Chemist shops

Sale operations of 10 shops suspended; maintaining proper records of Habit forming drugs mandatory

Srinagar, Mar 12: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, a team of the Drug Control department headed by Assistant Drug Control Srinagar inspected  over two dozen chemists/drug sale establishments in  various areas of the district.

The inspecting teams visited JVC Bemina, Batmaloo, Lal Chowk, Natipora, Karanagar and other areas and checked sale/purchase records of addictive/habit forming drugs and other parameters preserved in drugs and cosmetics act 1940 and rules there under.

During the inspection, the sale operation of 10 drug sale establishments were suspended for not maintaining proper sale /purchase records.

Meanwhile, the DC has asked all Chemists operating in Srinagar to adhere to the laid down norms strictly. Any attempt at overcharging shall lead to initiation of criminal proceedings. He also urged the general public to lodge complaints in case they face any grievances in purchase of Medicines or their Golden cards entitlement is not entertained.

Further all the license holders of Srinagar have been asked to maintain sale/purchase records of addictive/habit forming drugs properly and dispense drugs only on valid prescription from registered practitioner otherwise strict action warranted under law shall be taken against the violators.
