RDD commemorates International Women’s Day

Srinagar, Mar 9: Rural Development Department (RDD), Kashmir, today commemorated International Women’s Day by highlighting the role of women towards progress and prosperity of a society.

In this connection, a function was organized here as part of iconic week of International Women’s Day under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav being observed from 7th to 13th of March, 2022.

Highlighting the achievements of women in different fields of life, Director RDD Kashmir, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, said that women are no less than men in any respect and in some cases men are playing second fiddle to women. He said that celebration of Iconic week is a testament to show the seriousness of the government towards women empowerment and the recognition of their efforts.

On the occasion, the Director felicitated the women Sarpanches besides female members of various Self Help Groups by distributing appreciation certificates among them.

Female Sarpanches who had come from several districts shared their experiences about the functioning of various schemes in their areas and highlighted the needs of their respective areas.

Among others who were present on the occasion were Superintending Engineer RDD Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Srinagar, ACD Pulwama, ACD Anantnag, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) Kulgam, BDOs and other officers.
