Int’l Women’s Day: DDC Chairperson, DC Kishtwar launch plantation drive  

Kishtwar, Mar 8: To mark the International Women’s Day celebration, a plantation drive was organised today by Kishtwar Development Authority and Forest Department in Collaboration with District Administration  /PRIs here at Maiparan Park on the outskirts of Kishtwar town near Village Indra Nagar.

The drive was inaugurated by Chairperson, District Development Council Pooja Thakur, who was chief guest on the Occasion.

Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma and ADDC Sham Lal were also present on the occasion as the guests of honour.

Among others present were Chief Executive Officer KDA Inderjeet Singh Parihar, Divisional Forest Officer Sagar Singh, XEn PWD besides other officials.

Over 100 saplings of Deodar were planted under the Green J&K campaign by field functionaries of concerned departments to add to the attraction of the Park.

Similar drives were also conducted at different Panchayats of the division viz. Agral, Tatani,  Chirool and in the Educational institutions including Government Degree College Padder Gulabgarh, Government Middle School Tatani.

Total 465 saplings were planted at all places during the drive, while 75 plants were distributed among the locals.

Pertinent to mention that International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 to commemorate the women who have made extraordinary achievements in the socio-economic, political, Educational other fields besides spreading general awareness regarding contemporary women issues and challenges.
