Govt Dental College celebrates National Oral Pathologist’s Day

Srinagar, Feb 26: Post Graduate department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology of Government Dental College Srinagar on Friday celebrated National Oral Pathologist’s Day and organized a day long programme under the aegis of Indian association of oral and maxillofacial pathologists.

The event was organized on the birth anniversary of Dr. H.M. Dholakia observed on 25th February 2022 at Post graduate Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Government Dental College, Srinagar.

Prof. (Dr.) Riyaz Farooq, the Dean and Principal, Govt. Dental College Srinagar presided over the function and said that the role of oral pathology is very important for oral health.  Various doctors, professors, PG scholars, resident doctors also participated in the programme.

Highlighting the significance of the day, Head of the Department Prof (Dr) Suheel H Latoo recalled the hard work of Dr. Dholakia in the field of Oral Pathology. He called upon the students and doctors to follow his footsteps to cherish their goals in this specific field. The Prof. (Dr.) Riyaz Farooq, the Dean and Principal, appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing this important function. The Principal and HoD also appreciate the entire staff for organizing the event successfully.

On the occasion, several activities were carried out by the Department, including cake cutting, soap carving competition, plantation drive, preparation of charts, posters and models, distribution of sweets to the workers.

The Head of Department also appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing this important function.

Dr. M Shafi, Dr. Adil Malik , Dr. Aafreen Nadaf , Dr, Owais Gowhar , Dr, Rezhat Abbas, Dr. Zeenat Shah among others spoke on the occasion. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Dr. Adil Malik.

The event was jointly done by organizing committee members led by Prof (Dr). Suheel H. Latoo, Dr. Afreen Nadaf,  Dr. Mohammad Shafi Dar and scientific committee members led by Dr Owais Gowher and Dr. Adil Malik.

The opening ceremony of the event was led by Dr Adil Malik and inaugural speech was delivered by Prof (Dr) Suheel H. Latoo and speech on Role of Oral Pathologist in modern Dentistry was delivered by M. Shafi Dar.

Dr Rezhat Abbas highlighted the milestones in oral pathology of Government Dental College and E-poster presentation was done by Dr Zeenat Shah. Many Resident Doctors, Internees were also present on the occasion.
