Illicit Timber Seized in Kokernag; smugglers escaped, case registered

Kokernag,Feb 22: The Forest Range officer Kokernag Peerzada Riyaz Ahmad seized 82 Sqft of illegal timber from Compartment No 67 V in Bindoo Zalangam in Range Kokernag area of south Kashmir while also registering a case in this regard.
The Range Officer Kokernag, along with special team and other officials of the department, after receiving a tip-off swung into action and seized 82 sqft illegal timber in 67 V Compartment.
He further added after receiving tip of smugglers we raided spot and due to darkness they smugglers took advantage to flee from spot however we recovered illicit timber as well as Axe, Saw etc
Range Officer Peerzada Riyaz said that the department is committed to stopping such illegal activities
They also said that more such drives would be conducted in coming days to protect the green gold.
Case has been registered against the involved persons and further investigation and search is going on.
