SHD hosts debate competition at GHSS Gharota to mark Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Jammu, Feb 12: As a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” the campaign to celebrate 75 glorious years of India’s Independence, the Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu today organized debate competition and awareness camp here at Government Higher Secondary School Gharota.

As many 10 students participated in the debate competition and expressed their views on the topic “Importance of Sheep & Goat in Rural Development”.

Tanisha Sharma, student of Class 10th, Rani Devi, student of Class 10th and Tarun Sharma, student of Class 10th of Government Higher Secondary School Gharota bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Director Sheep Husbandry Department, Jammu, Krishan Lal said that the department has a major role in development of small ruminants sector to upgrade the socio-economic status of rural masses of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He congratulated the winners and management of school and stressed upon the students to create awareness in the society about the various income generating schemes of the Department.

Those who attended the programme included Dr. Sanjeev Kumar; Joint Director (Extension), Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Shivali Sethi; Deputy Director (Planning) Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Rana Partap Singh; Principal of the host school Deepak Kapoor, besides Sarpanch Halka Gharota and Panchs of the Panchayat, School staff, students and the breeders of the area.
