3 accused held for kidnapping, Sexually assaulting minor Girl in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, February 12: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three alleged persons in connection with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl in Srinagar district.

In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that on 11th Feb, Police Station Bemina received a complaint from a resident of Mansoor Colony Bemina( Name withheld) that his minor daughter has been abducted by unknown persons. Accordingly a case FIR no 02/2022 was registered under relevant sections of law at PS Bemina. Upon receipt of this information Bemina police immediately started the investigation & recovered the missing girl from TRC.

The police spokesman further said that during the investigation, it came to fore that the minor girl was kidnapped by three persons and  assaulted sexually. Raids were conducted in several locations and all the three accused who committed the crime were nabbed.

According to police statement the three accused have been identified as Basit Ali son of Ali Mohd Dar resident of Fruit Mandi, Parimpora, Irfan Ahmad Najar son of Abdul Rashid resident of Fruit Mandi, Parimpora and Firdous ahmad Angher son of Gulzar Ahmad resident of Beerwah, Badgam.

All the three accused have been arrested. The car that was used to commit this heinous crime has also been seized. Relevant Sections of law under POCSO act and IPC act have been added during investigation.
Further investigation in this case is in underway, reads the statement.
