SDM Uri Harvinder Singh told GNS that he personally visited the PHC Boniyar and seized records regarding the woman, who according to her husband died due to the negligence by the medical staff at the health facility.

“The matter is under investigation and facts regarding the death of the woman are being ascertained”, he said, adding, “If negligence was established, all those responsible will be dealt as per law.”

The SDM said that a team of Chief Medical Office Baramulla will also visit PHC Boniyar as part of investigation process.

Notably, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Kasi Boniyar, the husband of the woman, said that his wife was admitted at PHC Boniyar and on February 9 she delivered a baby. Subsequently she developed complications and doctors referred her to GMC Baramulla where she was declared as brought dead on arrival, he said.

Accusing the doctors of negligence, Sheikh said had she been referred on time, she could have survived.
