No compromise on crime against girls: SSP Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 11, KNT: SSP Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal Friday said that there will be no compromise on crime against girls.

“The Batamaloo incident came as a shock and I can’t believe there are people who can do this,” he said.

Earlier, a youth along with his associate in an attempt to loot cash barged into a house at Mominabad Batamaloo. They tied two girls with a rope. One was arrested while another managed to escape from the spot.

Reacting to the incident, SSP Srinagar said that a formal case under strong sections of law including trespassing, assault and outraging the modesty of females has been registered.

“We are investigating the matter and if he has done all this along with his associate, he too will be arrested. I can’t believe that such incidents can take place in my city,” he said.

He hailed the role of people in helping police to nab the culprit saying that cooperation of people is very important to eradicate crime from the society.

“We are working to end crime against girls. We are also working to put brakes on narcotics. We believe that there should be no compromise on crime against girls,” SSP Srinagar said.

He said police want that those youth involved in the earlier attack (acid attack) should get stringent punishment so that it becomes a deterrent for others. (KNT)
