DC Anantnag fixes timelines for removal of encroachments

Anantnag, Feb 3: Continuing sub divisional level review of the Revenue department, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting of sub divisional collectorate Pahalgam.

During the meeting issues related to encroachment, implementation of new services under revenue, establishment and office spaces were discussed.

The DC on the occasion laid stress on removal of encroachments from Kahcharie and State land in a systematic manner. He was informed that more than 3000 kanals of land has been retrieved from encroachers in Pahalgam, Saller and Srigufwara tehsils.

Reviewing the status of pending court cases, Dr Singla fixed timelines for disposal of cases. He directed the concerned officer to ensure that all pendancies are disposed off in the next two months.

The meeting held discussion on the present infrastructure availability for revenue officials. In this regard, directions were issued to ensure that patwar khanas should operate from vacant govt building before turning to rented accommodations.

DC Singla stressed that the field functionaries must be present within their jurisdiction at least twice a week so that people can bring forth their issues.

The present deployment of lumberdars and chowkidars was also reviewed with directions to ensure their presence in their jurisdiction. Tehsildar Pahalgam was directed to sack one lumberdar, who has been absent from duties for some time now. There was emphasis on organizing regular camps in the far flung areas so that people can avail revenue services without inconvenience.

Regarding Jamabandies and Girdawaris, the DC was informed that 100 percent jamabandis and girdawaris stand completed and socially audited. It was also informed that there is minimal pendency in mutations in the sub division.

The DC encouraged the officials to take up any pendancy in mutations particularly related to inheritance in a mission mode. Regarding transfer of land to government departments,  mutations have been completed in all cases.

Dr Singla also reviewed the functioning of SDM office and issued directions to hold regular review meetings with line departments. He also directed the SDM to conduct surprise visits and ensure attendance in subordinate offices.

There was thorough deliberation regarding the services that have been brought in the ambit of the public services guarantee act. The DC exhorted upon the officers to ensure that the services are provided as per the timelines in the act and to develop mechanisms to keep a check on their subordinates regarding timelines. He said that the move will ensure transparency and accountability in the system and we must fix responsibility at each level so that people can realize the benefits.

The meeting was attended by SDM Pahalgam, ACR, Tehsildar Pahalgam, NTs among others.
