DDC Rajouri reviews functioning of FCS&CA Department

Asks for intensifying market checking to curb unfair trade practices

Rajouri, Jan 29: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today reviewed the functioning of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Department here at a meeting of the concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Director FCS&CA, Arief Lone and Tehsil Supply Officers.

The meeting held a detailed discussion on stock, supply position, distribution system, grievance redressing system and other related matters.

At the outset, the Assistant Director FCS&CA informed the meeting that sufficient stock of wheat, rice, LPG, petrol,  diesel and other essential commodities are available in the district. He also informed that the department supplying ration through ten food stores and 473 fair price shops.

The meeting was further informed that the ration cards of all the NFSA and Non-NFSA beneficiaries of the district have been linked with the Aadhar.

Reviewing the implementation of the electronic public distribution system, it was apprised that 90 per cent ration in the district is being distributed among the beneficiaries through electronic distribution system except for some far-flung areas where the internet connectivity is poor.

The AD FCS&CA also apprised that the Department also organises consumers awareness programs to highlight various aspects of the Consumer Rights Act which influences the day to day lives of Consumers.

Speaking at the meeting, the DDC asked the officers to serve the consumers in a better and a professional manner so that they don’t face any difficulty.

To ensure that quality ration free from adulteration is distributed among the consumers, it was decided in the meeting that the concerned authorities from the Legal Meteorology Department shall conduct regular checking of the fair price shops and lift the ration samples for quality management purposes.

To curb the overpricing, hoarding and profiteering, he directed the concerned officers to conduct regular market checking to curb malpractices in the district.
