Providing adequate potable water to every household being given first priority: DC Poonch

Reviews functioning of Jal-Shakti department

Poonch, Jan28: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet  today chaired a meeting of officers & officials of Jal-Shakti & Ground Water to review the  status & availability of water supply in the district.

While reviewing the working of Jal – Shakti department, he directed the concerned XEN to immediately augment the water supply to water stressed areas and set timeline for the same.

It was decided in the meeting that the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti shall direct the concerned officers to ensure installation of water connections in remaining schools and Anganwari centres.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed the departmental authorities to transfer all the employees who have completed more than three years at particular place and rationalize the staff posting to improve the working of department.

The chair directed the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE) to submit the station wise list of damaged transformers and Motor supported water lift schemes to his office.

It was also decided in the meeting that Superintending Engineer hydraulic circle will hold monthly meeting of PHC centres and submit the action taken report to his office. In case employees fail to achieve the fixed targets the superintending engineer and Executive Engineer Jal Shakti shall reflect the performance in their APRs.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed to submit the list of contractors who have not completed the works under languishing projects.

The Deputy Commissioner laid stressed on maintenance of log book at all rural and urban locations of pumping stations. He further directed the concerned Executive Engineer to inspect the Log books on fortnightly basis.
